Should I Fly My Flags?

No one prepared me for getting older. Or, if someone did, I must not have been listening. For instance, I recently started to notice red freckles in various places on my body. They appeared out of nowhere and were itsy bitty little things. At first I thought I had some weird rash or a bad reaction to something. I came to find out, they are normal. Fair-skinned folks tend to get them as they age (ugh). Nothing you can do about them. I definitely was not expecting their arrival.

I also was not prepared for the metamorphosis my arms were going to undertake. Which begs the question of, “Should I fly my flags or not?” Okay, so I admit I could lose a few pounds. I do not work out with weights so I do not have lovely sculpted biceps. What I do have is, “flags,” (to quote Oprah), or too much skin dangling! This is a serious subject for me.

I have never been a fan of sleeveless shirts because I felt my arms were not worthy of flaunting. However, now that my body is changing, due to my age (ugh), I find that I am hot all the time! This has led me to seriously consider flying my “flags.” It certainly makes me feel cooler and I’ve noticed on the days I fly my “flags” my sweat mustache tends to stay at bay.  For me, that’s a win-win.

I find I am becoming more and more practical the further I stretch into my fifties. I’ve decided I will fly my “flags” when the weather is steamy. My apologies to those of you that have to witness this. Look on the bright side though, at least I cover up my weird red dots. And, you can always salute me if you want!
