Five Things Overwhelming Me Right Now (sort of)

What a wacky start 2022 has been! There are five things overwhelming me right now (sort of) that are hindering my enjoyment of starting a new year.

Usually, I would be feeling overwhelmed in December during the holiday season. But, I had covid and didn’t celebrate anything last month. We had our family Christmas on January 2nd. It was anti-climatic.

I am not complaining, as it was beautiful to have the four of us together. It just wasn’t the same as celebrating Christmas day. And, it’s making January feel discombobulated. (I always wanted to use that word.)

There’s a lot of talk on social media regarding recommended resolutions for 2022. Every magazine proclaims, “now is the time” to do this or that this new year. It’s making me feel overwhelmed! Can you relate?

Five Things Overwhelming Me Right Now

  • Selecting my word of the year
  • To diet or not to diet?
  • Should I get the Brazillian buttock lift?
  • Creating a self-care regime
  • Being more green

What is Your Word of the Year?

I am not sure who started the whole word of the year thing, but I keep seeing it everywhere!

According to a New York Times newsletter, “To get the most out of 2022, try choosing a word that can help you make thoughtful decisions and nudge you toward positive change.” https://www.nytimes.com/2022/01/06/well/mind/word-of-year-2022.html

Seriously? I hate to be a cynic, but what single word or phrase can help anyone decide or nudge them into action? C’mon, people!

Do you have a word of the year? I have yet to select one and am not sure I will. What do people do with their word? Do they chant it daily? Maybe write it fifty times a day to embed it in their brain? I don’t get it. Please feel free to explain it to me in the comments below.

Do I Need to Start a Diet?

Most people I know are committing to dieting or eating healthier in 2022. This is the first year I am not making dieting a priority. I am comfortable with how I look right now. I admit that I will never be a fashion model or wear a bikini. And that’s okay with me. If I want an Oreo, I’m having it.

I’m not dieting as long as I feel good when I get dressed to face the world every day. It’s too much stress with all the measuring, sauteeing, and hiding hostess cupcake wrappers. You get it. (wink, wink)

Should I Get A Brazillian Buttolk Lift?

There was a segment on the morning news today about Brazillian buttock lifts being the “in” thing right now. All the celebrities have them!

Probably too much information, but I have a flat butt. If anyone could use a Brazillian buttock lift, it’s me. I know this because I confirmed it with my daughter earlier today. The thing is, though, that I’ve already stated I am okay with how I look. So I am passing on this one. Have you had a buttock lift? Were you happy with it?

Creating a Self-Care Regime

I started practicing self-care in 2021 and will continue this year. I used to think self-care equated to a weekly manicure. It is so much more than that! I wrote a post about it a few months ago that you can find here: https://www.outwittinglife.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=1566&action=edit.

One of the ways I practice self-care is by writing this blog. I committed myself to allocate time to write a post every week. It has not been easy to find the time, but I have, and it feels great. I also committed to getting enough sleep every night. What a difference it has made for me!

Do you practice self-care? What have you prioritized for yourself? Please share in the comment section below.

Being More Green

Being green is the most critical initiative I plan on undertaking this year. All sarcasm aside, I believe we seriously need to care for our planet. In our efforts to make convenience our number one priority, we have inadvertently caused additional issues for ourselves. Disposable cans, bottles, and paper goods are polluting our environment.

Do you practice recycling? I admit that I get lazy and toss things in the regular garbage that I could recycle. I am going to be much more conscious of recycling this year.

As you can see, I have to let my sarcasm flow every now and then. I hope you have enjoyed reading this post as much as I have enjoyed writing it. After proofreading this, I decided to pick a word of the year–kindness. There is not enough of it in this world, so I will chant it; I mean practice it more every day.

Truth be told, I would never ever get a buttock lift-just thinking about it makes me giggle. I wonder if Twiggy wants one?

    Loretta,
After reading your blog this morning and believe the word of the year should be kindness too. If everyone shows more kindness this year the world will be better off.

Found you through my mom’s blog Nancy’s point. A woman at a bar one time told me she wore “butt pads”
all the time. Too make her butt bigger! Never knew there was such a thing.

Thanks Lindsay! I suppose I could look into that, tee hee. Too funny! I appreciate you stopping by.

  5. How to Keep Life From Overwhelming You This Summer | 31st May 22

[…] In conclusion, I hope I have not overwhelmed you with ideas in this post! I am sorry for being on my soapbox a bit; I didn’t realize my passion for this topic until I began writing. Earlier this year, I wrote a tongue-in-cheek post about things overwhelming me. You should check it out if you need a chuckle. https://www.outwittinglife.com/five-things-overwhelming-me-right-now-sort-of/ […]
