Are You Excited About the Change of Seasons?

Aside from January, the anticipation of September might be my favorite time of year. Are you excited about the change of seasons?

September marks the start of a new school year. Yes, it forces us to say goodbye to Summer. However, it lets us say hello to Fall, sweater weather, apple picking, and pumpkin-flavored everything. Who doesn’t love that? For me, September is more exciting than the beginning of a new year. I think it is because everything changes. And I like change.

Don’t Miss Out On the Change of Seasons

There is so much to see as we transition to Fall. It is easy to get caught up in day-to-day activities and not notice what is happening around you. I lived that way for a long time. As I have mentioned before, your perspective changes once you experience trauma (breast cancer for me). You often see and experience things for the first time, even though they have always been before you.

In 2019, I wrote an article about how cancer opened my eyes. You can find it here: https:www.outwittinglife.com/why-everything-looks-different-now. I feel the same way every Fall. There is so much to notice if I keep my eyes open. The leaves are changing, the birds are migrating, and cooler weather is occurring. Do you see and feel these things?

Fall encourages me to make personal changes. It reminds me of being younger and starting school with fresh notebooks, hence, a clean slate. I love that! Moreover, you can be better this year if you weren’t the greatest note-taker last year. It’s your do-over. Even though I am no longer in school, I can start September with a clean slate.

What would you like to do differently this Fall? Are you making any changes? I found an excellent article on the change of seasons, particularly the seasons of your life. You can find it here: https://inspirationintheeveryday.com/the-changing-of-the-seasons-of-life/. It talks about embracing your current season. It concludes with “To learn all you can from what is happening here and now. To lift up your eyes and see the beauty that is all around you if only you have the vision to see it.”

Are You Inspired by The Change of Seasons?

I think it is essential to embrace the season you are in. Do the seasons correspond with your life? How often do you feel depressed and gloomy in the dead of Winter? Or, bursting with pride at the beauty of your garden in the Spring?

Change is growth. The older I get, the more confident I become and the more inclined to make life changes. I used to be afraid to change. What if things don’t turn out the way I anticipate? Now, I view that as an exciting possibility. What if things turn out better than I expect? If you have the right mindset, the options are endless!

What Change Should I Make?

Here are a few questions you can ask yourself to determine some small changes you could make this season.

  • Do you always drive the same roads every day? How about changing up your route?
  • How often do you eat the same thing for dinner each week? Why not try a new recipe? Or, go on a picnic and enjoy viewing the foliage?
  • Are you a lover of crime novels? Historical fiction books might be something else you would enjoy.
  • Would you call yourself an animal lover? It may be time for a trip to the zoo. (While the weather is still good.)
  • Have you thought about changing up your exercise routine or starting one? Why not try yoga instead of pilates for a change?
  • Ever done a DIY project? I once painted our bathroom and changed out the shower curtain and towels. It looked amazing, and I felt so accomplished!
  • When was the last time you went apple-picking? Now is a great time.
  • Do you make your bed every day? If not, that small change can have a big impact!
  • Have you rearranged a room in your house recently? Changing out some artwork and re-positioning your couch can be therapeutic.

What if I Don’t Like The Change of Seasons?

The seasons change every year, so, technically, they are following the same path. Yet, we continue to reference their activities as change. Kind of an oxymoron, right? You can choose to change, or you can choose to remain constant. It is your decision to make.

I have learned to embrace, dare I say, welcome change. But only after I was forced to. I certainly never chose to get cancer, but having it changed every aspect of my life. It was shocking at first. I adapted, and now I enjoy change.

Each time you open your eyes in the morning is an opportunity to change. You do not need the seasons to spark you, but, if they do, I hope you try something different. Change is adventurous and often freeing. Why not allow yourself to experience it?

Please comment below if I have inspired you to make a change. Or, tell me about a change you once made that you were proud of and loved–or one you hated! Feel free to forward this post to a friend, as I always want to grow my subscribers.

Happy Fall!
